Quiller Instincts

So we were having this mail trail again. The participants of the mail trail, specifically were, Maloo, Saha (Maloo's HWPP), Debo and Rudy. So Saha wrote this, while trying to explain how and why we use the phrase "Proud of you".

Here’s the story with u as HERO…

Debo has a presentation in a 5 star hotel.. He impresses everyone,  a beautiful girl who’s new in business comes to him with some questions and to impress him offers to buy him a drink at the hotel bar.

They have a session and she’s flattered by debo and asks him for a date the next evening, debo says yes… after the date, she takes him to her place and they both have fun together.

Next day he comes and tells this to Varu… he says say “saale h*r**k***, aish ki tune kal raat huh” he actually means “m proud of dude, way to go”

Friendship's Day vs Rakshabandhan

Maloo and Debo work in the same company. There was a Friendship's day event being planned by their Company and they had an interesting mailer sent to all the employees.
Debo took the gang in loop and asked Maloo, irrelevantly, replying to that mailer.

"Maloo, meri twin banati kya?".

To which she replied,

"Friendship day celebration hai... rakshbandhan celebration nahi...
I would have loved to be ur twin.. but am not here on 8th.. I’ll be in Nagpur
There’s only one way we can be twins...
You also take leave on 8th.. then we both will be the invisible twins... !!!! :D :D"

LOL, ABHH... :D

I mean, Aisa Bhi Hota Hai!!

A beautifully hideous song

I usually listen to songs in loop. And this isn't the first time I am stuck on one song. I find this song very beautiful with a very negative meaning.

Song: Dil Khudgarz hai
Movie: Life in a Metro

Agreed, that this song is apt for the situation in the movie, but I don't buy anything that goes against integrity of an individual or a relationship. It beautifully talks about how one slips into adultery and how one is totally helpless when it comes to the matters of heart.

Dil Khudgarz hai, phisla hai ye fir haath se
Kal, uska raha, ab hai tera iss raat se..

The ease in writing, the flow of lyircs convey the act of accepting the fact that yesterday my heart was someone else's, but today I have lost my heart to you.

I appreciate when the lyrics are nice and the song is woven effortlessly into a soothing melody. This song has it all, but I hate the entire concept.

I personally am a very committed person, when it comes to relationships, any relationship. And if it had to be that of love, I would never like to do what the song conveys.

But I am hopelessly stuck to this song.

How I wish this song wasn't hideous, this beautifully hideous..

Dil Khudgarz hai, phisla hai ye fir haath se
Kal, uska raha, ab hai tera iss raat se..
O meri jaan...

tu aa gaya yu nazar mein
jaise subah dopahar mein
madhoshi yu hi nahi dil pe chhaayi
niyat ne li angadaayi
chhuaa tune kuchh iss tarah
badli fiza badla sama
o meri jaan..........

naadaan samajhe naa yeh dil mera
jaanu na jaanu na isko kya hua
teri baahon ki phir se dhunde yeh panaah
tu hai kahaan, tu hai kahaan
o meri jaan..........

Toh Zinda ho Tum

I have always been an avid follower of Javed Saab's Poems. Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara was a poetry in itself.

I loved the movie. Mostly because it is just what soothes my soul. Poetry in between enactments! The beauty with which Farhan narrated them, brought out the grace. The poetry encapsulates the feeling of each character. The underlying meaning or moral of the movie is very beautifully expressed in these poems. I am still looking for the complete versions of all the poems, but right now the one that lingers fresh in my mind is this one..

dilon mein tum apni betaabiyan leke chal rahe ho toh zinda ho tumnazar mein khwaabon ki beejliyan leke chal rahe ho toh zinda ho tum
hawa ke jhokon ke jaise aazad rehna sikho
tum ek dariya ke jaise lehron mein behna sikho
har ek lamhe se tum milo khole apni baahein
har ek pal ek naya samaa dekhiye
jo apni aankhon mein hayraniyan leke chal rahe ho toh zinda ho tum
dilon mein tum apni betaabiyan leke chal rahe ho toh zinda ho tum

Salute Javed Saab

Monsoons

Tear,one, she dropped
     Brutal Monsoons, thought I
        Rained, it ruthlessly
          smiled she, I wondered why
I saw her, clouds seemed dark
               Emotions drenched
                  I cried.
                 Cried I
              Drenched emotions
           Dark seemed clouds,her I saw
       Why I wondered, she smiled.
    Ruthlessly it rained.
   I thought Monsoons, brutal.
 Dropped she, one tear.

Bl(eaah!)azer

The other day,I was talking to a friend of mine and he told me how his friends were getting pictures clicked in blazer and all, for matrimonial profile.

Apart from wondering how interested the guys are in all this business, I had a deep craving of seeing my friend's picture in a blazer too.

So I told him to get a picture clicked in a blazer.

He justified, "I am not getting married any time soon"

"But what's the harm in getting a picture clicked in a blazer, considering you'll have a professional clicking you?", I asked.

"Yeah you are right", he said and agreed to do it.

So I received a mail from him.
It read:

I am sending you two pics, one in blazer, and the other one is a time pass click in shorts.
I thought, Ok, probably he wanted to share some good clicks.

So I opened the attachment and had a look at the picture in the blazer. And.. holy cow!! he looked amazing. Though it featured him only till his waist.

I opened the next image..

And it was a total contrast to the first one. He donned a cool look on the face holding a blazer in one hand and as I scrolled down the picture he sported a nice funky shorts which looked eeeewwwwkkkkkss with the awesome, formal blazer.. worst, he wore chappals.

Shhhaaayyyy! What a lazy ass, I thought!!

Appearances can be deceptive, they say!! How true!

How wish I could post his picture here!!

Aaarrggghhh!

Why on Earth would one put "Tinku Jiya" as a Hello tune?

Everytime I call this Neeta Volvo guy his Hello tune goes :

"pal pal na mane tinku jiya, haan tinku jiya

isak ka manjan ghisey hai piya"

Bad, I have to call this fellow over and over again to enquire about my bus timings.

Worse, he doesn't pick up the phone in one go.

Worst, the female always repeats "Agar aapko ye hello tune copy karna hai toh * aur 9 dabaiye"

Aaaarrrggghhhh!!! :/

come back home

do you remember
what time it used to be?
when we used to run down our stairs
and catch up with the gang
for tea and biscuits
at Kakaji's tapri
pay nothing
and put our fathers in debt?

sharp at 7,
the mosque would attract
all deaf ears
which heard nothing but noise
of guilty conscience and drab lives
the silent call
to the corner of the street
where we'd wait for Mazhar
and he would bow his head for us

the rich man's driver
who drove a rich car, back then
and how we sat crowded
on the white seat covers
to see how it felt to have a car
and wished to have one
when we grew up?

the playground
on the otherside of the road
from where, the sky appeared
brigher than blue,
the clouds appeared,
thicker than white
and how we waited for
all to come together
so that we could start
one match of cricket?

I pass by this road,
flashes of memories
pinch me.
how good were the days!
Come back, dear friend,
The street is never going to change
just like the people
whom you left behind
for whiter faces
cleaner roads
and duller skies...

Come back home.

Mere Jaisa Tu

After ages I got hooked to a song.I have been playing it in loop since last night. I had heard it so many times before too, but not entirely. I was away from music all these days. I am glad this song helped me find my peace.

This song has revelations at so many levels. I feel so connected with myself when I listen to it. The best part of the song is the title of this post.

It's the theme song of MTV splitsvilla, by Agnee.
Don't skip this one. I am sure you'll be glued to it too..
In loop, the 37th time..

Aahatein, ho rahin teri,
Dil ke dar pe mere,
Tu yahin hai kahin na kahin.

Aahatein, ho rahin teri,
Dil ke dar pe mere,
Tu yahin hai kahin.

Kabhi mere khwab sa,
Kabhi uljhe jawaab sa,
Ke chanda mein bhi daag sa,
Mere jaisa tu.

Ke dariya ka ho ik sira,
Ke armaano ka silsila,
Ke sehra mein bhi aab sa,
Mere jaisa tu, mere jaisa tu.

Aahatein, ho rahin teri,
Dil ke dar pe mere,
Tu yahin hai kahin na kahin.

Tera hoon main, tujhe kyon na yaqeen hai!
Chaahat mein meri aakhir kya kami hai?
Tujhme hi toh chhupi meri khudi hai.
Meri khudi kuch na sahi.
Kuch na sahi, Kuch na sahi.

Aahatein, ho rahin teri,
Dil ke dar pe mere,
Tu yahin hai kahin.

Kabhi mere khwab sa,
Kabhi uljhe jawaab sa,
Ke chanda mein bhi daag sa,
Mere jaisa tu.

Ke tu hi dariya ka he ik sira,
Ke armaanon ka silsila,
Ke sehra mein bhi aab sa,
Mere jaisa tu, mere jaisa tu.

Aahatein, ho rahin teri,
Dil ke dar pe mere,
Tu yahin hai kahin na kahin.

Varu strikes again

A long time back, during Kojagiri (a harvest festival celebrated on the full moon day of the Hindu lunar month of Ashvin, Sept-October. The rainy season is over and the brightness of the full moon brings special joy.) last year, Varu sent me a mail saying how much he missed being around.

We usually all get together for Kojagiri in a common place and have a night out. And last year Varu wasn't around. He was in US. So he wrote a mail to me, a part of which I extracted to feature it into ABHH and then the mail trail began.

What is common between Treasure Hunt and Kojagiri?
The answer is Varghese. Because both are same for him.

Read this

"Great yaar you guys are making me  feel jealous...i remeber the last khojagiri we had:)
and now again...mere tarafse b dhud pi lena:)
"

Khojagiri me Dhud!! :D

This looks like a search act in Treasure (Khoj) Hunt (dhundh)!

Missing, no more.. Just Quilling

My roomie's Hone Waale Pati Parmeshwar (HWPP) went to Germany for a few months. Though this wasn't happening for the first time, but this time the separation would be a bit different considering a few things :P

So Maloo is passionate about just two things. Lately I must say, the passion just boils down to one - QUILLING.

Now what is quilling?
"Quilling or paper filigree is an art form that involves the use of strips of paper that are rolled, shaped, and glued together to create decorative designs. The paper is wound around a quill to create a basic coil shape. The paper is glued at the tip and the coil shaped, these shaped coils are arranged to form flowers, leaves, and various ornamental patterns similar to ironwork"

Here are certain samples made by our Quilling expert:

Artist : Maloo

Artist: Maloo

So  this hobby finally took over the space and time which usually was filled by someone who is currently filling spaces in Germany!

While we were exchanging talks about her "HWPP" reaching Germany safely, she said, "Actually I told him that I don't miss him much anymore, because the day he left, I kinda missed him a bit, but when I got back to quilling I almost forgot him."

Sigh!

Poor dude. Imagine, hungry husband returns from work, tired of the constant nagging by his boss, he slams the door and says "Maloo, where are you, what are you doing? Dinner?"

She replies, "Go feed your self, I am doing my quilling"

And then the Pizza companies make money!!

Ok ok.. I got too much into the imagination, I am sure nothing of this sort is going to happen. :D

Everything will be definitely taken care of. Probably, quilling might become a family business eventually. Then on birthdays, anniversaries, we’ll have pretty quilling memoirs.. Wow!! Sigh Again!! :P

Anyone interested in Quilling classes? Drop in a comment :P

Chitthi Aayi Hai

A few days back, a friend visited me and I acted sweet and all to make her leave her pen back with me. I have this crazy addiction for pens, you see. And 0.7mm tip, OMG, it reminded me of the China Pen that I had back in school (I still vie for those lovely ink pens).

So I kept that pen with myself and one fine day, I decided to write with it in my diary.
But it wasn't kinda enough. I wrote a few pages, but the pen still kept demanding that I use it to the fullest.

"This is not the purpose of my pen life, lady.. Use me", it yelled.

I wondered how can I do justice to it? I took out another diary which I usually use to make notes, and decided to write something in that as well.

For a change I began writing in Hindi. I had long forgotten the joy of writing in Hindi. I almost forgot spellings (maatras) of many words, but still I thought I should give it a shot.
Right then I got a call from my friend and I ended up committing that I shall write a letter to her in Hindi, with that pen.

The pen breathed. Finally. As if it's purpose would now be solved.

So I wrote a letter, the way we were taught in school, in a proper format starting with "Preeya Dost," and ending with "Tumhari Pyaari,".The beginning of the letter typically being "Aasha hai tum maze me ho, yaha bhi sab kushal mangal hai".

I still remember how Mrs. Madhu Shukla taught us to give regards to parents of the person you are writing to "Tumhare Maata Pita ko mera saadar pranaam", and many such nuances of letter writing.

Nostalgia triggered a lot of things, and I ended up writing a four page letter, entirely in Hindi. There were times when I would go blank, recollecting Hindi words instead of English ones. One particular word held me up for a good 15 minutes. The word was "attempt". The sentence was "Main bohot dino baad hindi me letter likhne ka 'attempt' kar rahi hu". I couldn't finalize between "Prayog/Prayas" so I wrote it with a slash.

As the pen filled the pages with beautiful Akshars, I realised, what a joy it is to write letters (I mean actually "write").I decorated the letter with cute flowers and hearts just to fill in all that was missing.

Yesterday I got a reply to my letter (in English though). And I have never felt so elated in a while. Trust me, there is no joy like reading a letter written by a loved one.

Emails are great, so is fb, twitter and all the e-messaging services. But it's always good to see how your handwriting looks on paper after so many years of giving it up, rather than how good you type in one minute. It reflects love in the efforts.

I love the Post Scripts (PS:) in the letters, somehow. They hold the most important information. I usually read it first.

There is so much to it, so many things that fascinate me. This is something long lost, and newly found..

Oh! The joy of writing - the joy of "writing" letters!
